Pinsof Family Systems LLC is dedicated to helping complex family systems.

Pinsof Family Systems (PFS) is the organizational home for the two primary components of Dr. Bill Pinsof’s clinical practice.

The first component is Bill’s work as a psychotherapist. Since the early 1970’s, Bill has been doing psychotherapy with individuals, couples and families. His psychotherapeutic practice focuses on individuals struggling with emotional and social problems, couples struggling with relationship and intimacy problems, and families struggling with troubled relationships between parents and children of all ages.

The second component of Bill’s practice is his work with multigenerational family systems with family enterprises—family businesses and family offices. This work involves the application of Bill’s deep experience as an individual and family therapist to the organizational and developmental problems of family systems with family enterprises. Bill’s work focuses particularly on helping these families address emotional and communication problems between parents and adult children, siblings, cousins and in-laws that place these families at risk of rupture and/or destructive conflict.

The name, Pinsof Family Systems, derives from Bill’s fifty year commitment to working with individuals and families from a perspective that views individuals and family groups (couples, siblings, nuclear families, etc.) as existing within a systemic matrix that influences and is influenced by these individuals and family groups. This perspective has been called the Family Systems Perspective and has been elaborated in Bill’s two clinical books, Integrative Problem Centered Therapy (Basic Books, 1995) and Integrative Systemic Therapy (American Psychological Association Press, 2017).
